Martins Integrated joins international team to examine the image of the United Arab Emirates’ most culturally significant city 28 Jul 2009
Al Ain, located roughly 150 kilometers from Dubai, is the capital of Abu Dhabi’s mainland Eastern Region. Literally translated as The Spring, Al Ain is a green, low-rise city blessed with substantial groundwater resources, is a rich agricultural area with many forts and archaeological sites and is also home to the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) main university.
A city with great history and authenticity, Al Ain is currently developing a City Image Management Strategy for its future growth. To facilitate this they have assembled a team of international experts in urban planning, landscape design, transport, urban economics and place marketing and branding. Martins Integrated’s extensive experience in the latter two categories has led to our involvement in this project, which started with a discovery workshop in June this year. Brett Williams, our senior strategist for this project, attended the first workshop and has just conducted a vision and strategy workshop at the start of July.
Brett is now heading up the preparation of a draft “State of the City Report” by the consultancy team. The objective of the report is to make recommendations for the prosperous growth of Al Ain whilst ensuring that it remains the beautiful cultural jewel of the UAE.
